Jay Kresge…this is where the confusion began. Most residents are in agree that a Trooper station is needed in our area. There are too many miles between us and law enforcement in times of trouble.
Before using our park, cemetery and community services building for law enforcement activities the entire community should have their concerns addressed. There are many of us who want the area saved for remembrance, family outings, our Fireweed Festival and Cabin Fever Reliever. The building itself has been rented out for baby showers and other celebrations. Having troopers with arrested criminals in the same building seems like a real bad idea to me.
Yes we need troopers in the area but not in our community park. I am also sure there are residents in Talkeetna who also want law enforcement closer to them. Why not locate where the troopers can take care of both communities quickly? Like where they were years ago.

Thank you for attending the meeting. The Council agrees with you and as you witnessed at the meeting this idea was rejected. We had to address all of the suggestions to be fair to all.
